CAPE MAY COUNTY HEALTHY COMMUNITY COALITION (HCC) COMMITTEES

The HCC Steering Committee is responsible for:

  • Monitors the progress of the coalition’s projects against its goals, objectives and projected timelines.
     

  • Provides a forum for discussion of coalition related plans and helps determine best practices and effective use of time and resources
     

  • Encourages and strengthens links between local agencies, businesses, and individuals.

(The HCC Steering Committee meets bi-monthly and guides the work of the coalition.)

HCC SUBCOMMITTEES

 

The following subcommittees work to impact Rx and marijuana misuse, underage drinking prevention, as well as build resiliency in youth and young adults in our community.

SCHOOL INITIATIVE

  • Maintaining connection with local schools.
     

  • Encouraging schools’ participation in bi-annual survey on risk and protective factors.
     

  • Supporting School Resiliency Teams by providing on-going training on ACEs and the connection of ACEs and substance misuse.
     

  • Keeping current on school policies.
     

  • Making recommendations about school policy issues.

YOUTH
INITIATIVE

  • Youth representation on the Coalition and engagement in Coalition’s projects.
     

  • Adults supporting youth involvement.

  • Recruiting and welcoming new members.
     

  • Ensuring the membership represents multiple sectors of the community.
     

  • Maintaining sustainability by ensuring the members are familiar with the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) and the Coalition’s By-Laws

  • Advertising events that pertain to the work of HCC.
     

  • Keeping current on related news releases.

Working with and informing organizations and elected officials with the purpose to affect policy (local ordinances, organizational policies, written procedures, proclamations, etc.)

  • Providing information and resources to community.
     

  • Volunteering at community events such as National Night Out, Town Halls, Health Fairs, etc.
